It’s easier said than done, of course.
Lesser tailbacks — and by lesser, I mean 40-50 pounds lesser — have done damage to USC this season.
So how do the Trojans slow down Stanford’s Toby Gerhart? And why is it so important that they succeed?
Check out this story to find out.
Something else of interest in the piece:
Why Gerhart didn’t want to come to USC, and what Pete Carroll had to say about it.
More from the USC blog:
Honestly, I know Gerhart will get his yards and ‘Furd will put up approximately 30. I think the key is can our horribly underachieving offense put up 35 or more against a terrible defense to win? We’ve only put up +30 3x this season - SJSU, ND, and OSU. The offense must play like it did against the Beavs in LA 3 weeks ago, but w/out D-will, I don’t see that happening. This game is a toss-up. Take ‘Furd plus under.
I’m looking for our defense behind big balls Pete to step up and shutdown the cardinal to 17 points. Hopefully the o can put up 20 and we sneak out another tight one. Watching the farm play the ducks last week was scary. ;(
If USC keeps tackling the way they’ve been tackling, Gerhart and Stanford will steamroll them. They’ve been undisciplined for weeks now and they have YET to rectify it even on the heels of an amazingly humiliating loss in Eugene.
