USC football: Anthony McCoy cleared to practice

November 10th, 2009, 7:34 pm · Post a Comment · posted by Michael Lev, staff writer

Quick hitters from USC’s Tuesday practice:

** Tight end Anthony McCoy has been cleared to return to full practice after doing limited work. McCoy, who has missed the past two games because of a sprained ankle, ran routes that had USC coach Pete Carroll “encouraged.”

** Defensive end Everson Griffen (toe) and linebacker Malcolm Smith (shoulder) also have been cleared for full practice after doing limited work the past two days.

** Receiver Damian Williams is considered day to day because of a high ankle sprain. Williams watched practice in a boot for the second day in a row.

** Linebacker Chris Galippo returned after missing Monday’s practice because of a bruised knee.

** Tailback Curtis McNeal (toe), receiver Brandon Carswell (toe), safety Drew McAllister (hip) and defensive tackle Averell Spicer (calf) remained out.

** Senior Garrett Green is taking reps at receiver because of all the injuries at that position.

** Freshman fullback Simione Vehikite is simulating Stanford tailback Toby Gerhart in practice this week.
