USC football: Alex Parsons returns to practice

Quick hitters from USC’s Tuesday practice:

** Right guard Alex Parsons returned to the starting lineup after suffering a concussion against Notre Dame and missing practice Monday.

** D.J. Shoemate took most of the first-team reps at fullback with Stanley Havili out. Havili is having his injured left shoulder examined tonight.

** Fullback Adam Goodman, who also has been out because of a dislocated shoulder, returned to practice and could be available Saturday, boosting USC’s depth at that position.

** Defensive tackle Christian Tupou (knee) remained limited. Armond Armstead again took the first-team reps at that spot.

** Quarterback Matt Barkley wore a sleeve on his left calf instead of his customary knee brace but showed no ill effects, completing several downfield passes.

** Receiver Ronald Johnson practiced despite lingering soreness from  playing in a game for the first time in 10 months.

** Scouts from the New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans watched practice. And yeah, the Titans really need the help.
