Athletic director Mike Garrett addressed former USC basketball coach Tim Floyd’s resignation for the first time:
“Tim was not forced out,” he said. “It was a surprise that he resigned.”
Garrett said he has not spoken with Floyd since. He also said he had no sense that Floyd would quit when they last spoke, about a week before Floyd resigned on June 9.
