Carl Smith is returning to USC as quarterbacks coach, and he will call plays from the sideline, Trojans coach Pete Carroll announced.
Smith, who also will have the title of assistant coach/offense, will help new offensive coordinator John Morton formulate the game plan.
Morton will install the game plan, run the offensive meetings and work games from the press box.
In other news, Carroll is meeting right now with quarterback Mark Sanchez regarding his draft decision. Carroll said he already has met with C.J. Gable and Josh Pinkard regarding their futures.
