This might be USC coach Pete Carroll’s brashest move yet.
Despite the prospect of losing one timeout per half for breaking an NCAA rule, Carroll is having his team wear its cardinal home jerseys at UCLA on Saturday, reviving a rivalry tradition that seemingly ended in 1982.
Although it’s possible the NCAA will change the rule or grant USC a waiver, Carroll didn’t express much concern over potentially losing the timeouts, favoring fun over practicality.
Although USC is a prohibitive favorite, UCLA pulled the upset two years ago, and Stanford beat ‘SC as a bigger underdog in ‘07. It seems unlikely, but the Trojans might need those timeouts.
So we ask you:
**************
If it costs timeouts, is it worth it for USC to wear its cardinal jerseys at UCLA?

He is looking back at the classic games when they both always were wearing their home jersey’s. They shared the coliseum back then and when the Bruins moved to the Rose Bowl the white jersey’s were on the visiting team. I think it’s great. I hope next year UCLA follows it up and they can keep it going.
In the old days many people still had black and white TV’s, but since the Bruins had baby blue jerseys, there was still a high level of “contrast”. The Bruins realized how embarrassing those jerseys were and slowly evolved to the current darker blue, but since there are virtually no more black and white TV’s, it should look fantastic! Fight on!
