USC’s Rey Maualuga and Brian Cushing are among 12 finalists for the 2008 Butkus Award, honoring the nation’s best linebacker.

The winner will be announced the week of Dec. 8. Here’s the complete list of finalists:

• Rennie Curran, Georgia
• Perry Riley and Darry Beckwith, LSU
• Sean WItherspoon, Missouri
• James Laurinaitis, Ohio State
• Rey Maualuga and Brian Cushing, USC
• Clint Sintim, Virginia
• Aaron Curry, Wake Forest
