Many games will impact the BCS title race and USC’s postseason outlook Saturday.
Washington vs. Washington State is not one of them.
Yet one can’t help but have a morbid curiosity about a game between teams that are a combined 1-20 and 0-15 in the Pac-10.
They’re so bad that many pundits have insisted this year’s annual UW-WSU game not be called the Apple Cup.
My colleague Adam Rose of All Things Trojan came up with the hilarious alternative of Kumquat Cup, my personal favorite in the following poll:

What should the 2008 Apple Cup be called?

seriously….im a trojan alum but im from seattle so im a husky fan by birth…leave this one alone Lev. At least this rivalry has some real hatred behind. Can’t honestly say the same about USC-UCLA….does it even have a real name? The Gauntlent doesn’t fit well. The battle 4 the victory bell? Look, the records and stats of WSU and UW speaks for itself. The apple cup will remain, and hopefully in the near future will return its meaning! GO HUSKIES!
I’m up for Offal Cup myself.
By the way, I found this pretty amusing video of some Husky fans making fun of WSU for losing to the Trojans 69 - 0.

It’s doubly funny because the Huskies themselves didn’t fair much better, losing 56 - 0. But I guess as the video points out, there’s a crucial difference. Plus I feel like self-delusion is the only thing keeping these programs alive.
umm im thinking Apple sauce cup

Even better after today’s game. :)
