USC took a one-touchdown lead into the locker room after a penalty-filled first half at the Coliseum.
The lone TD came on a 19-yard pass from Mark Sanchez to Patrick Turner in the second quarter. Turner made a diving catch in the back of the end zone.
The Trojans had a pair of interceptions wiped out because of penalties on the same drive. Brian Cushing’s rough-the-passer flag negated Kevin Thomas‘ pick, and Kaluka Maiava’s pass interference erased Taylor Mays‘ INT from the books. Cal ended up with a field goal on the drive to make it 3-3.
USC had six penalties for 60 yards in the first half, continuing a season-long bugaboo.
The Trojans outgained the Bears, 211-83, but had only the two scores to show for it.

Mark Sanchez sure is a disappointment this year. He was supposed to be better than Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart. Well I don’t see it. This offense stinks because he makes so many bad passes. Now they’re running way too much and just not doing anything. Can someone come to USC and coach these kids the way Nick Holt is coaching the defense? Something big needs to happen. This offense is just becoming too mediocre. Now all I read is runningbacks complaining about no playing time. They all should be getting plenty since the passing game is lousy.
