USC football: Kevin Ellison eyes early return

November 3rd, 2008, 6:43 pm · Post a Comment · posted by Michael Lev, staff writer

** USC senior safety Kevin Ellison had surgery to remove a torn meniscus in his right knee Monday morning, and he already was walking around and flexing the knee by early evening.

Ellison was optimistic that he could beat the projected timetable of 2-4 weeks. He can’t do further damage to the knee, he said, so it’s strictly a matter of pain tolerance.

** Tailback Joe McKnight (turf toe) returned to practice after suffering a setback last week and missing the Washington game.

** Tight end Blake Ayles (knee) did not practice, probably won’t return until late in the week but said he expects to play against Cal on Saturday.
