McKnight migraine mystery explained

September 16th, 2008, 7:50 pm · Post a Comment · posted by Michael Lev, staff writer

USC coach Pete Carroll amended himself regarding tailback Joe McKnight, who left the Ohio State game because of a migraine and didn’t practice Tuesday.

Carroll had thought McKnight had a history of migraines, but it turned out that Saturday was the first time he suffered symptoms. They apparently stemmed from McKnight looking up into the stadium lights.

“It was the first time it happened, so they’re going to make sure that they test him and check him out real carefully,” Carroll said. “I don’t know what that means for the future.”

Even if McKnight wanted to use one, the NCAA banned the use of tinted shields in 2006.
