Ohio State’s Beanie Wells out

Carroll: Beanie Wells’ situation ‘not a big deal’

Ohio State running back Chris “Beanie” Wells will not play this week against Ohio.

Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel said he is not worried, however, about Wells playing against USC on Sept. 13.

“No, not at all. Not at all. But that’s easy to say today.”

Wells rushed for 1,609 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2007 and is considered a Heisman contender this season. He rushed for 111 yards against Youngstown State this past weekend before suffering a right foot injury in the third quarter of the Ohio State victory.

Coach Carroll said USC might have running back Allen Bradford mimic Wells in practice next week.
