Looking past Virginia … to UCLA

I nearly choked on my morning cereal when I saw this ad in the L.A. Times:

All I can think to say is: Um, it is?

excellent reaction!…i think they are getting ahead of themselves- go trojans!

  2. Keren Says:

Well at least they recognize that there is a monopoly :-) Fight On!!!

  3. Lendak Says:

Is rick betting on the board game now?

  4. Ben Says:

Well, now when SC is up by 35 in the fourth quarter on December 6, they’ll have something to wave at the bruins. Not smart, baby blues. Not smart.

  5. John B. Says:

One word - IDIOT! Especially when all the top recruits watch the Trojans KICK the CRAP out of them!

One more word - Brilliant - Only if they win.

Its better to keep your mouth shut on the playground when the biggest bully in the land plays in the same yard as you do!

  6. Sean Says:

Hmmm…I wonder how long it will take the USC Book Store to produce Monopoly T-shirts with Pete Carroll’s face on the body of the Monopoly man?

Pete: Go straight to the woodshed, do not pass go; do not worry about running up the score on Dec 6th. Fight On!

  7. Peter Says:

I agree with the ad and also believe the UCLA basketball monopoly is just beginning.

  8. Mark Says:

As a Duck fan, all I can say is wow. Putting a chip on Goliath’s shoulder IS NOT a good idea. He will now focus on David a whole lot more. Yikes UCLA!

  9. visitor Says:

Harbaugh did a similar thing last season….just sayin.

  10. ilovemytrojans Says:

They need something to get excited about. Remember when they hired Dorrell ? He was going to be there savior. Oh I remember the Bruin fans getting all excited about BIG BAD KARL DORRELL. They are many years away from the SC talent. UCLA has never had that kind of talent. Not the type Pete has put together the past 7 years.

  11. Terry Says:

    Rick, you’re a dork.

  12. Jeff Says:

HA HA HA HA!!! …OK, I’m… HA HA HA HA HA HA HA… TRYING TO TYPE.. HA HA HA HA HA HA… BUT CAN”T.. HA HA HA HA HA … Stop laughing! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA… Is that the April Fools edition of the paper???

Oh maybe they mean Rick NewWeasel is going to win the football betting pool here? :-)

  13. shedawgthefirst Says:

As a Husky fan, I can only say that USC dominance is preserved with slick/sleeze Rick at the helm at UCLA. He’s soft and he lacks the kind of judgment that matters.

He does have two great coordinators underneath him - which will be the sole reason anything goes right.

Kick their arse, USC. Make us all proud!

  14. Coach_Simmons Says:

Anyone remember the movie The Great White Hype??? hmmm

  15. SECFAN Says:

USC should be in a real conference like the SEC. Y’all have a great team but playing in the big leagues week in and week out would really test your program. It amazes me how USC can play so many cup cakes and still go to the National Championship or the Rose Bowl. Remember Stanford last year? We don’t have a Stanford in the SEC. It would be great to see USC play Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, LSU and Auburn back to back to back. As a USC fan can you be honest with yourself and think you could go undefeated after that kind of schedule every year? Imagine the injuries? If you weren’t the favorite team of ESPN you would be on probation now for Reggie Bush’s pay off. Way to go beating the “Fighting Zooks,” last year.

  16. richard Says:

These people cant be real can they? Since when do you try kicking your enemy in the teeth? This bulletin board material.

  17. HBBENGAL Says:

Of course USC skates with those cupcakes they play, unlike the mighty powerhouse schedule you had last year. ..

Mississippi State, Middle Tennessee (Is that even a 4 year school?) , The mighty Tulane, Ole Miss and Louisiana Tech (is that an oxymoron?)

You may want to check yourself before getting all high and mighty.

Idaho was about the only “cupcake on the USC schedule last year the rest are PAC-10 or competitive games.

    Sorry Corndoggie!

  18. J Says:

    Dawg fan here:

I wouldn’t count your chickies before they hatch. Sure, you beat him this year and the next, but Rick is a smooth recruiter and I believe that the ad is correct.

Good luck this year, keep the pac10 strong, and I look forward to seeing you guys back up here in 2009.

    Peace

  19. SC for Life Says:

They seemed to have left off “there” at the end.

  20. Jimbo Fisher Says:

Oh crap! This can only mean one thing… the NFL is coming back to LA.

Sorry guys, the monopoly is over. Now there will be 2 teams in LA with NFL caliber talent.

  21. Huskerfan Says:

Whats even more funny is me thinking about how all of you were non existent fans before Pete came into town. You guys couldn’t even fill 1/4 of your stadium. Rick & Chow are going to surprise some people, and band wagoners need not apply

  22. USC'94 Says:

Thanks for the bulletin board material… well played Ruins.

  23. SC/93 Says:

“USC should be in a real conference like the SEC. Y’all have a great team but playing in the big leagues week in and week out would really test your program. Face it Walter, this has nothing to do with Vietnam.

  24. USCDPT1 Says:

    SC/93:
That’s funny! An SECer talking about being honest with oneself about one’s conference. When you wake up, you can come play with the rest of the football world. Until then have fun playing with yourselves. :)

    SC for Life:
    Good one! I like it.

  25. Doug Says:

Ricky must be into “fantasy” football. Someone should remind Ricky that UCLA has won as many National Titles in football as the San Diego State practice squad - none. Note: UCLA shared one in the mid 50’s, but has never won one outright.

  26. PHQUGLY Says:

    SC/93 YOU ARE AN IDIOT!
USC plays a cup cake schedule? Every year they play Notre Dame and this year we play Ohio State. USC’s and MOST of each of the PAC-10’s schedules ALWAYS play tough Out of Conference games.
While we are at it, let’s look at who LSU plays this year and some the past few years: Tulane (When were these guys any good), Troy??? WHO?, North Texas (This is nearly a D2 school) Stanford would walk all over those three.
Why argue anymore this is a typical SEC team and fan response
