Trainers tend to running back C.J. Gable as he lay on his back for about 10 minutes while fullback Stanley Havili kneels and prays.

USC’s deep backfield might have gotten a little thinner today with tailback C.J. Gable suffering a sprained left hip and ankle.

Gable’s leg got caught underneath his body as a defender tackled him in the backfield about halfway through practice.

Gable lay on the ground for several minutes before being helped off the field. He left practice on a cart.

Gable, a sophomore, started the first two games last season before suffering an abdominal injury that caused him to redshirt.

Man, what’s happening to our offensive players? I hope the sprains aren’t too bad and he gets back to full health quickly. I’ve been looking forward to seeing Gable run right through defenses again like he did in ‘06.
