Injured quarterback Mark Sanchez will throw to receivers Tuesday, USC coach Pete Carroll said.
Carroll said the important thing to monitor is how Sanchez’s injured left knee responds to the workout the next day.
Sanchez, who dislocated his left kneecap Aug. 8, played catch with Carroll at the start of today’s practice, throwing 15- to 20-yard passes.
Sanchez said he would need to be fully recovered and practicing by next Tuesday at the latest to play in the Aug. 30 season opener at Virginia.

If Sanchez isn’t ready in time for the opener, USC has a chance of losing that game. Although as someone who was at the Coliseum for the Stanford upset, I can tell you that backup quarterbacks can pull off big wins too.
